Hackers leak 2.7 billion data records with Social Security numbers

Almost 2.7 billion records of personal information for people in the United States were leaked on a hacking forum, exposing names, social security numbers, all known physical addresses, and possible aliases. The data allegedly comes from National Public Data, a company that collects and sells access to personal data for use in background checks, to obtain criminal records, and for private investigators.

Texas-headquartered carbon black company Orion informed investors that it lost $60 million after falling victim to a criminal scheme that resulted in “multiple fraudulently induced outbound wire transfers to accounts controlled by unknown third parties.”

An Arizona-based technical school is notifying nearly 209,000 current and former students, parents, guardians and faculty that their personal, health and financial information was potentially compromised in a hacking incident detected earlier this year. DNC Credentials Compromised by 'IntelFetch' Telegram Bot

As the Democratic National Convention (DNC) is set to kick off in Chicago Aug. 19-22, a Telegram-based bot service called "IntelFetch," has been aggregating compromised credentials linked to the DNC and Democratic Party websites. The stolen data, identified and verified by ZeroFox researchers, includes compromised credentials from the Washington and Idaho state branches of the DNC, and other sensitive information, including logins for party members and delegates.
